My favorite scene from the movie is when the Chairman notices a crying Chiyo, and buys her flavored ice just to see her smile; which he says is a gift to him! He gives her his handkerchief with some money and at that moment she resolves to become a Geisha; changing her destiny forever.  She runs through the Torii gates to a Shinto, rings the bell and puts the money into the red box; spending it on a prayer, not fish or rice. She implores to see him again.  In time the young Chiyo adopts the name Sayuri and never gives up hope of reuniting with the Chairman.

When I first started blogging and designing in Second Life (around December 2012) I have been in forever search of the perfect Torii which depicts the perfection of the true Fushimi Inari Gate Shrine in Japan.  There has not been one until now!

Many may wonder why I say that.  But once you set Harshland’s “Inari Torii” out for yourself you will understand. 

Kadaj Yoshikawa produced this flawless shrine for Enchantment.  The full set includes 3 color variations and an added surprise of his animesh Spirit Foxes!

After all these years of setting out scenery to depict a story that has forever touched my heart, I have yearned to create a similar photo of Chiyo’s pitter-patter footsteps.  Thank you, Kadaj!  You have no clue how this touches my heart!

The lovely Armonia Décor “Farol Asian Paper Lamps” are inside with their “Maravilla de Oriente” set which does include a stunning “Dragon” statue on a marvelous base.  I have set this item aside for my next photograph!  I really didn’t want to take away from my “Memoirs of a Geisha” style photograph I did today; so please come back soon to see the next review!

In order for me to initiate the true Geisha feel for my photo, I selected a most dramatic and intricate ensemble from irrISIStible!  Who else?  She never leaves anything out!  Her “China Express” Kimono full set might just stay on my little avi body for the next week!  I already ran to set up at an upcoming event and was asked “who’s outfit is that?”!  I do get this question many times as I fly around Second Life wearing her goodies!  Bravo to you, Isis!  Another master piece!

It’s always a sad day to say goodbye to Fantasy Faire.  I tend to come to Alia Baroque’s Region to take my last photo; watching over the sailboats flowing through the pass he creates.  I could sit here for hours, too!  Not only to gaze at the astounding world of lights, bridge passes and magnificent buildings but to watch the diversity of magical dragons that land, the elaborate attire people adorn and whimsical fantasies flying all around me.

Fantasy Faire is a world of hope connecting strangers and friends, designers and bloggers, fairies and elves, dinkies and teegles, mermaids and unicorns, pirates and gladiators, giants and tinies!  We seek out the anomalous statues, hidden treasures below and prizes through our quest.

We all become stars along the way, taking photographs, wearing our best and attending the daily events with amusing entertainment and merriment.  But the real heroes to our story are those who “relay”.  There is no way to come to this venue and not know the true cause for this gathering.  Relay For Life vendors are strategically placed at our landings and in the shops.  Knowing as soon as you click to “buy”, the Lindens will go toward a purpose of research and possibilities to find a cure for cancer. 

On the last day of the faire, I get such a heartrending feeling.  And yet, I know this shall return to Second Life again next year.

Farewell Zodiac,

Tell me it won’t matter

Promise me where ever I am

You’ll be with me

In the place where “Goodbye”

Does not matter

Because the goal and purpose

Was fulfilled,

And we shall come together again next year.

Time escapes me amid Fantasy Faire season! I am lost to transient awakenings each time I visit!

Floating, flying, posing, shopping, reviewing, creating, designing, questing, meeting up, dancing, chatting, catching up, exploring and (researching for blog reviews) ~ I linger with all eloquence escapes where words are mute upon my tongue because I am at such awe and speechless!

Each year I have to balance my time between Designing and Blogging for Fantasy Faire.  The adventure takes me to all phases of a calendar and agenda.  I am the rain to the wind where every moment I’m swept into a timeless travel of enchantment of beauty and those aching deadlines.

But alas, I conquered!

I took 2 photos 2 days before the end of the faire, but as you all might have done as I did, I had to spend the last 2 days making sure I didn’t miss a drop of fantasia-fun!  Therefore, today I am finally presenting to you some treasures!  The items shown will now be in each designer’s main shop!

Fantasy Faire 2020 ~ Today and Tomorrow are last days!  May 10th, 2020!

For your Fairelands review for the day; from my heart to yours, here’s a little smorgasbord of choice brainchild creations and some of my winning cuts!

My mouth waters every time I see a Harshlands project! For his Fantasy Faire 2020 creations he forged a monumental “Devonshire Castle” with sections where you are able to create your own dreamy layout! Hence, it’s available in a FatPack with parts such as various sizes in walls, gates (that open/close), a beautiful tower and 2 stone stairs. 

I was delighted as I set these out and built my own fortress!  Kadaj is one creator in SL that pays much attention to detail and texturing.  As a designer myself this is appropriately important to me.  He has other items available to decorate within and around – so I would say he is your one-stop-shop if you need a castle and coordinating décor! 

I have another photo review to do this morning and will post a much larger visual of the set up.  Soon to be here (will insert link after completed)!  Bravo Kadaj!  Love your work!  And thank you for providing the review pack!

Moving on…

Now, I know you can only see a section of Fantavatar & Moonstruck’s “Davanzati Manor” in this review.  This compliments Harshland’s Devonshire Castle perfectly.  Flawless in design, this is a 3-story sumptuous medieval styled build with courtly windows and doors that also open/close.  The balcony adds a majestic feel whereby any noble décor or persons may delight in positioning ornaments or oneself to oversee their court!  Well done, Luna!  Your creations always amaze me!  I appreciate you sending me the review pack, too!

By Nacht!  The perfection I find in her statues and adornments is divine and beyond compare!  Her Forfax Statue #3 has a perfect face and build.  I wanted to wear Stix’ Black Cosmos skin and “Forfax” matched me perfectly as a flying courageous mate for my photo review! 

Forfax and I rule!  Courage Rules!

I must now elaborate on a few more items!

Scarlet Fey is also another of our this year’s Fantasy Faire builders (along with partners) at Helidor! At her shop in the Fairelands you can pick up some of these builds as well as her elven wardrobe sets! You won’t need to run around to find boots or accessories because she completes the outfit for you! Love this Heilung Elven costume for my roleplay adventures which is one of her RFL vendors!

Got Glowing Eyes? The Stringer Mausoleum sure does. In fact she has animated eye packs that will knock your hair out! She completes her packs with exotic fantasy colors and I highly recommend picking up as many packs as you can of her assortments; they are always priced right!

In conclusion..

Have you worn DOUX hair yet! First notice for me was the softness and shine David Cooper brings to an accomplished look! Not too many hair creators have done what he has! Design is one thing, texturing is another and he perfected both! I can tell you he doesn’t slap a hair texture on it and call it a day; nope! Kudos to you, David!

A Caravan Of Dreams

Is Better Than The Demons Of Cancer

Why do I relay?

First, I am one who jumps at the opportunity to design for some of the most important events in Second Life where the proceeds are joyfully sent to The American Cancer Society!  I wish to inspire survivors, caretakers, their families and in honor of the ones who we have lost.

Second; I buy from the Relay For Life Vendors in Second Life!  I seek them out and do my best to review them.

But most important of all for me personally, since this is such a fight I have privately fought myself with battling various types of cancer.  As a young teen I struggled with the pain of the beginning of cancer cells in my right ovary and the suffering I endured for a long time before a wise old doctor finally decided not to treat it any more, but to remove the ovary.  It worked. 

Years later I have battled a 2^nd cyst, but it too has been recovered.  I was in the doctor’s office in February 2020 after a final sonogram and he said “You are cancer free”! Praise Jesus, I said!

But the ongoing combat for me is the skin cancers.  I have had surgeries where there were huge holes left and they looked like I was shot from a rifle!  The skin cancer on my face can be froze off, but it returns.  It is spreading a little more now and since the COVID-19 pandemic and losing my job at a 4-Star Hotel, I lost my health insurance.  So, I wait.  I hope it will not spread worse.  I dread having another surgery which might lead to worse scars; especially on my face.  Throughout my earlier lifetime I modeled, danced for prestigious dance companies (Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks to name a couple) and had my time in theatre/commercials/movies.  Call me vain, but I do not want the reminders of such a deadly disease mark me.  Getting a little older is hard enough (*giggles*).

And yet my heart cries when I remember how my GrandDad, my GrandMother and my Father suffered with worse cancers than I have had.  It took their lives.  I miss them and want them back home with me.  They gave up; which is even sadder.  But their spirit is alive in me and the memories I have will live forever.

So, why do I relay?  It’s important the research goes on! 

It’s important the Scientists and the labs have the funds for the groundwork, exploration and fact-finding quest.  It’s important we find a cure and save lives of children, babies, grandparents, brothers, sisters, parents and friends.  We have all been touched by this demon at some point in our lives and it doesn’t take much for you to reach out to a Relay For Life vendor and buy a wonderful creation for yourself and know the proceeds are going to the best cause we have in Second Life.

Loving my wolf!  If you have followed me on some of my previous reviews, you would then know how much I love wolves since childhood.  As a photographer I have photographed them in the wild while living in Alaska!

This lovely creature protecting my every step at Lunafae in Fantasy Faire 2020 was created by CKit Falconry and is a Relay For Life item at their Fairelands Shop! The set is complete with 2 sizes in the wolf (other colors available), Wolf Food Bowl loaded with raw chicken (because they prefer chicken over beef), Wolf Water Bowl and the ability to touch on REZ for a lengthy useful menu!

You can change his name, position where you want him to wonder and the range and can be set to chase (Why not? Isn’t that their natural habit?).  He stands, sleeps, snarls, howls, lays, scratches, digs, looks at you then watches around himself, opens/closes his mouth, eats, licks, and so many others!  I was totally amazed.

Quick note, once rez’d and the menu comes up; remember you can change his coat to 4 color selections, change his eye color, turn sounds off/on,

By adding the wolf to your avatar, he walks with you and completes about a 15-minute or so cycle of all his animations!  Sooooooo, if you are taking photographs and if you are like me who takes pix with different windlights – get ready and be very patient with your lovely fur baby because that same position may be a while before it happens again!  But fear not!  Be in awe at how smart, cute, wonderful, loving and accurate this critter is by your side!  JUST CLICK HIM and the MENU pops up so you can pose him (as well as going through the full menu to customize him!)  Love the fully detailed notecard that is included with my wolf! 

Oh and I named him MoonPie!

One more tidbit regarding the wolf and something especially cool you may want to pick up at CKit Falconry’s Fantasy Faire 2020 shop is the “Swimming” Kit in the Beta 1.5 crate!

There are eight worldlings to seek out.  Once you find them, take a photograph of yourself with them and post it to this page.

There are photos half covered in black that serves as a hint as to where they are.  When someone posts their critter selfie on the website, Sonya will unveil more of the hint photo.  There is a “spoiler” page on the website, but I’ll let yo find that! LOL

When the first Great Explorer locates the critter and posts a picture of themselves with the critter in the comments below, the rest of the picture will be revealed and a new Critter Parade challenge will be posted.

This lovely garden photo was taken at Queensgarden (by Gidgette Adagio) at Fantasy Faire 2020!  It’s lush with secret hiding places in the midst of florals, ivy, gazebo’s, bridges, water passages flowing into ponds and a misty atmosphere!  Once there prepare to spend some time exploring it’s depths of wonder and photographing!  You can pick up your Quest HUD there, too!

Much to my delight I found Sonya Marmurek’s “Astalianda Aries Pose” perfect for this scene while capturing the winsomeness of whispering sun rays amid the glorious Fairelands morn.

Before you leave Sonya’s shop, grab everything you can regarding the Fantasy Faire’s “Critter Parade” and the small CHALLENGE to find them.  As most everyone knows, Sonya is a collector and wooer for little bunnies and critters bestowed all abroad in Second Life.  She took special time to create a little area at the Fairlands dedicated to her love in The Worldlings Cradle.  This spot is quaint and perfect for a photograph; whereby you will find posing doodads to sit on for another splendid picture you will want to take!
