With much anticipation for a steamy awaited venture;
I snatched my flightyΒ robotic sidekick, Moon Shadow,
as escort for an acceptance to a royal gala and affair.
I noticed my grunge-dated envelope revealedΒ a faded time stamp.
Where had all the time gone?
What Year of the Lord is it upon my newly fated eve?
I am quite sure my clock still works.
Or had it stopped with a tatteredΒ tide?
My dressesΒ within my wardrobe had rusted to a blended gold.
The celestial sphere radiated in an auspicious hue
blowing dust and powders amid my booted feet.
My motor car transposed to a shoddy heap.
Oh dear me,
I fear I seem to have rusted inΒ some sundryΒ state or prime.
But dismay not,
Just like clockwork,

Yes, I am back from an 8-week traveling real life adventure!
First, I want to thank my friends and followers for the emails, pm’s and inquiries
to my where-abouts!
I came home with around 2000 photos from my travels; some to be posted on my
personal photography website and my travel blog!
And….I missed you all, too!
So, my first assignment was to prepare an article within the San Antonio realm.
As I put together photos I mentioned to my sister that it’s really difficult to take a picture of
The Alamo without having a lot of people on the grounds.
Quickly I did a SecondLife Destination Guide search to see if anyone had developed
this as a build and to my excitement I found The Alamo!
My nephew was with me while I jumped in to take screenies of this most accurate
and detailed sim that I have seen
(among hundreds more that have inspired true likeness to the “real”)
and he was in just as much awe as I was!
“Remember The Alamo!”
Who could not visit San Antonio without visiting The Alamo!
βRemember The Alamoβ, a sort of San Antonio motto,
refers to the battle cry of the earlier Texanβs
striving endeavor for independence from Mexico. General Santa Anaβs Mexican Army seized
The Alamo after an exhausting fight to death by our Texas heroes amid what was once a
Spanish Catholic mission, turned fort. The name βAlamoβ derives from Spanish cavalry members
who nicknamed the mission after their own village of Alamo de Parras; meaning βcottonwoodβ.
I bet some do not know that there were originally 6 organized groups who wanted
ownership of The Alamo during 1836 when Texas was in a state of revolutionary flux
where the former Mexican state had broken away.
The list: Monarchists desired Texas to be subjugated to the Spanish Crown,
The Confederation of Anglos and Tejanos had their own ideas
for Texas to be a republic independent
(along with a rebel confederation which was led by Sam Houston), the fledgling nation of the
United States preferred Texas to tie with them, particular Federalists preferred Texas
as a Mexican government and the sixth group, members of the Centralists wanted
Texas to be a part of Mexico but ruled by a national government.
On March 6, 1836 the Confederation of Anglos and Tejanos, dominant Hispanic landowners,
were indoors of The Alamo amid approximately 200 desperate men from all over
the U.S. and realized they were in need to face a helpless battle to defend their aspirations
for Texas with their lives; not realizing there was no aid on the way.
During two weeks of bloodshed engagement,
finally Santa Anna was fiercely knocking on their fortβs door.
By dawn of that historical day, March 6, 1836, the hostel Mexican soldiers took the Alamo.
The hidden Texian children, women and slaves (along with James Walker Fannin) were
executed by General Santa Anaβs order on March 26, 1836. And according to historical records,
there was not a single rebel fighter left alive to tell the tale of this historic battle.
Some 600 Mexican troops perished in this battle;
which tells me our 189 or 200 heroic and brave men put up a great fight indeed.
History tells us of one lone nonmilitant slave, known only as John,
lived to tell the provisional rebel government details of the fortβs battle.
So the month which followed that historical conflict, the wailing cry of βRemember The Alamoβ
became the rally inspiration to gather the rebels again and march onward towards their goal.
Finally at San Jacinto (now named Houston, Texas) the commander of the brigade and
newly formed rebel volunteers, Sam Houston, led us into victory during another month long
and exhausting fight for the freedom of Texas.
On April 21, 1836, Houston heralded 910 men to march the plains outside
of San Jacinto and shot cannons toward the surprised Mexican forces.
The 20-minute battle was short and fierce. The Mexican soldiers had been caught off guard
and were completely vanquished by our battle cries echoing amid the smoke,
gunshots and whistles of cannons shooting by βRemember The Alamo!β.
As for myself, I cannot drive through or visit San Antonio without stopping to walk
the grounds of The Alamo.
Every time I visit the old mission I feel proud to belong to Texas as I read through
the historical plaque information and logs displayed about.
Today, the citizens of San Antonio (as so in Texas and the depths of The United States)
are made up of a multitude of nationalities. There is a common sense of friendliness and
scores of politeness in sharing of history and culture
embedded into the people I chance upon while there.
I see pleasing smiles on everyoneβs faces and have been graced with kindly conversations;
from those who were born in the area all the way to transplanted
folks whom all seem proud to call San Antonio their home.
In closing, I certainly βRemember The Alamoβ in my own special way and I most certainly
urge anyone who contemplates a visit to San Antonio to be assured of a wonderful experience.

Alamo Rose by Bambi Chicque
The San Antonio Rose” is a signature song by Bob Wills
(who btw was born in my Mother’s home town of Turkey, Texas).
When I see a rose or think of a rose, two things come to mind.
One, the song “The San Antonio Rose” and second,
“The Yellow Rose Of Texas” which is a traditional folk song and
is my Mother’s favorite flower!
I selected a Spanish lace style pant set, put my hair up and picked some roses
to pose in front of The Alamo’s grand superstructure of this real historical site!
The photo effect is one I devised myself to give it a festive painted feel
and my choice in attire was to mix the new with the old
since The Alamo is so alive to me, personally, today!

I have a great affinity for all things Africa!
In fact, my Bucket List includes a real life trip to Cape Town where I plan to visit 2 families of special friends (with whom I have known for 20 years) who will arrange a Photography Safari Adventure. So, in the mean time I thought Iβd take you within the African depths of Second Life and show you some of my favorite sims that I have visited over the last year or so.
We all have done that βsearch thingβ for a theme when we want to find somewhere to explore or shop in Second Life.
And sometimes while shopping we just happen upon that significant matter on the brain; ie: double the pleasure!
My fondness for AnaLee Balutβs designs of ALB LAMU takes me to just that moment when I visit her ALB DREAM FASHION Boutique.
Well, itβs more than a boutique! Once there, you better set some time on your watch to stay an entire day as there is more than meets the eye with her creations.
My favorite area is her LAMU ISLAND which blends the Orient & African motif in landscape, building and an array of items to purchase.
You can opt to take the tour upon a friendly donkey or do what I did:

I visit her sim often since I am a thrilled member of her group and receive notices for their new items, group gifts and special events.
One of my many visits was back in February 2013 where I decided to begin my lifelong personal hunt for African and Jungle Themed sims to photograph for my photography series I am creating for a special project.
And thus begins my account of Out Of Africaβ¦

One must daydream a little when speculating upon a theme to photograph and write about. It takes more than a day; waitβ¦more than a month;β¦wait much more sometimes to bring the tale alive.
So I sat in ALBβs Dream Globe many a time β (and have purchased it for my own meditations ~ itβs only $100 Linden!)
I searched through my Second Life Photography files for moments in time where I engaged upon such African and Jungle matters. I remember going to the PATRON sim with my ex-business partner, Gopu, as he wanted to buy an extravagant Christmas Tree for our palace (where else other than Patron??). We found it to be another unique sim where you can visit to purchase lustful items as well as exploring their creative ambient locale.

I have continued my quest for the African zill and recently ventured onto a magnificent sim with my friend Vianβ¦.I spent at least 2 days or more exploring and taking photographs for my collectionβ¦.

Our first taxi stop was introduced to me by emo-tions with a list of 12 eggs to hunt at LeeZu! Β ( [LeeZu!] Flagship Store, To The Nines (145, 128, 22) ). She has the store designed just like my favorite department stores in real; easy to flow and fly to the various segments! Β Above I am wearing a few of my finds:

We Found The Golden Eggs! ~ EBH3 2013
In case you are wondering about the Evil Bunny Hunt 3 event ~ There were over 80 creators participating in this great hunt and once you obtain all your loot ~ you found your way to the final destination where all THE GOLDEN EGGS were placed for even more amazing gifts!! Β I’ll be unpacking eggs forever! Β My new business associate and close at heart friend, Harley, and I had a lot of amusing moments while searching for these treasures….although I looked like his little girl~ ROFL ~ I like to change into various avatars and clothing when I visit sims. As always, Shiran keeps me giggling and in awe at the amazing unique outfits she finds for her events! This one is one of my fav’s! The outfit ” Irish Beer” is created by Fairyzette Sahara. Shiran told me she purchased it at Les Sucreries de Fairy. She is quite ravishing in the Madrid Solo makeup and hair by Hazzard! (NOW I know where to get that stuff as well!)
